About Me
Keith Viglione
Every photograph on this site started the same way: me, camera in hand, waiting on the light. Sometimes that means a 3 a.m. alarm to catch the Boston skyline at dawn. Sometimes it means standing in a February wind off the harbor, hoping the sea smoke holds. Once, it meant standing under a waterfall in Iceland, because getting the image meant getting soaked. The waiting is most of the job. The rest is knowing where to stand.
I’m Keith Viglione, the photographer and videographer behind 617 Images LLC. I grew up in Boston, I live on the North Shore now, and between those two places is the subject of nearly everything I shoot: the skyline in every kind of light, the lighthouses and working waterfronts, the marshes of Plum Island, and the nights this city lights up for its teams.
It was the sunsets over Plum Island that first put a camera in my hand. I kept watching the sky catch fire over the marsh and thinking somebody should be photographing this, and eventually that somebody was me. It didn’t stay a hobby. Before founding 617 Images, I spent years shooting stills and video for local and national news organizations, work that had to be sharp, honest, and on deadline, and that was seen by hundreds of thousands of people every day. That training never leaves you. It’s why I’ll go back to the same spot ten times for one frame, and why every image on this site is a moment I actually stood in. Since 2014, my photography has been featured by businesses and publications around the world and seen by millions of viewers.
When you buy an image from 617 Images, it doesn’t come out of a warehouse. I print the paper prints, canvas wraps, and framed prints myself, right here in the Boston area, and I inspect every piece before it ships. If it wouldn’t hang on my own wall, it doesn’t go in the box.
The commercial side of the business runs on the same standard. I’m FAA Part 107 certified and insured for commercial drone operations, and before this career I spent years as a part-time police officer and dispatcher. That background is part of why police and fire departments across New England trust me to photograph their people and their work, and it shapes how I run every job: show up prepared, respect the environment you’re working in, deliver what you promised.
During the season you can usually find me at markets around Boston, New Hampshire and the North Shore, from SoWa to Tuscan Village. Stop by, see the images in person, and tell me which corner of New England belongs on your wall. And if you have a project in mind, whether it’s a listing, a license, or something in the air, reach out. I’d love to hear about it.
